We interview the CEO of CGM

On the occasion of 30 years of CGM. We interview the CEO of CGM Question 1: Congratulations on reaching this significant 30-year milestone. What do you consider to have been the most notable moments in the trajectory of CGM TELECOMUNICACIONES so far? First of all, thank you very much for the congratulations, regarding your question, well, the truth is that, if we consider that CGM Telecomunicaciones is celebrating its 30th anniversary as a Telecommunications Engineering company, it is very difficult to answer a question like this. There have been good and bad moments, but perhaps the most notable are: the beginning of CGM Telecomunicaciones as such, created in 1993 with the uncertainties of the moment, a great boom in the world of Telecommunications, but very difficult as a consequence of the first Gulf War, which affected all companies in the sector worldwide. The recession took hold in Spain between the second quarter of 1992 and the second quarter of 1993, and its translation was a growth in unemployment from 16% to 24%. The first jobs of CGM Telecomunicaciones began in 1994, we began to work repairing power supplies, hard drives and computer boards for OLIVETTI and continued with this service for 10 years. We made the real change towards the world of Telecommunications in 1997, we began to deploy external fiber optics for Operadora Madritel, abandoning the world of electronics and computers that were booming until that moment to take the great leap into Telecommunications. . In 1998 we were the first to install ADSL for Telefónica in VIP subscribers. Following this guideline and the strong boom in installations in the “ACCESS” world between 1999 and 2004, we deployed all the LMDS stations in Madrid for Retevisión. But the great moment of change for CGM Telecomunicaciones, within engineering, occurred in 2004, when we began working with Huawei both in the area of “facilities” and in the area of “services”, installing their models for Telefónica. , Grupalia, Exfera, etc. With Huawei we have carried out engineering projects of all types, especially in fixed networks and WDM, such as the projects, to name a few of them, “National Photonic Grid 2010”, “New National Photonic Grid 2022”, “Jazztel 20M”, “Telefónica VDSL/10M”, “Orange RAN RENOVAL”, “Telefónica FTTH”, “Orange Packet MW”, “Vodafone NOC”, “Telefónica Central Modernization “JAVA 2019”, “Telefónica FARO Project”, etc. To rename clients and cutting-edge projects of recent years, comment that in 2018 we started working for TCTS (TATA) on projects for Orange, and in 2022 we started working on Telefónica’s Faro project We have to take into account that in 2011 CGM Telecomunicaciones opened an Acoustics, Noise and Vibration Control Consulting division, a highly experienced team with more than 35 years of experience in the sector, being one of the best in Spain in its field. sector. Throughout these years, Engineering projects have been carried out in their various fields on different continents and countries such as the projects, to name a few of them, Medina-Mecca High Speed Train, Vilnius Auditorium (Litunia), Hospital Remodeling University of La Paz, Madrid…
MG 1757
Question 2: In 30 years, the telecommunications industry has seen significant advances How has CGM TELECOMUNICACIONES evolved to adapt to these changes and continue to be a leader in the market? Our strategy has been to focus on working by offering engineering and support services to manufacturers (VENDORs) that directly have contracts with large operators such as Telefónica, Vodafone, Orange… Our way of working is oriented towards “Quality and Customer Satisfaction” (CUSTOMER CENTRIX), although it involves a higher cost and fewer benefits than if we focus only on “services”, this means better quality in what we do, which leads to greater customer “satisfaction.”
MG 1776
Question 3: In an increasingly connected world, cybersecurity is a constant concern  How does CGM TELECOMUNICACIONES approach information security to guarantee the privacy and protection of its clients? Safety is a top priority. We have implemented robust cybersecurity measures and follow industry best practices. Additionally, we educate our customers and employees about online threats, providing them with tools to protect their data. Our commitment to privacy and security remains unwavering. In line with this conversation, I would like to tell you that in this year 2023 we have become ISO certified. 27001, and that one of our largest clients has congratulated us for cybersecurity, giving us a European award in this regard, reinforcing our efforts in this regard.
MG 1762
Question 4: In a context of rapid innovation What are the strategic focus areas for CGM TELECOMUNICACIONES in the coming years? This is a difficult question to answer in the century in which we live, the rapid evolution of technologies and needs of end customers “companies, manufacturers, subscribers…” and the growth of networks to be able to meet new market needs. , makes you focus on what our clients demand most urgently and needily. In the Telecommunications area, our objectives for the coming years are:
  • In the technical area, increase our capabilities and services in radio technologies (Wireless)
  • In the commercial area our objective is to establish ourselves as support for Engineering Services in manufacturers with whom we do not yet have a consolidated relationship.
On the other hand, in the area of Acoustic Consulting, Noise and Vibration Control we have to think about the “past, present and future of CGM Telecommunications” innovating towards Acoustics Consulting in all its aspects “Listening Rooms (Auditoriums, Theaters, etc.), Building (Homes, Hospitals, Offices…)”, “Industrial Noise, Environmental Noise (Roads, Trains…)” and “Vibrations (Metropolitans, Mechanical Installations…)”. Our scope of action is the National territory and in all those countries where it is required, seeking the future while maintaining today.
MG 1758
Question 5: Finally What is the message you want to convey to the clients, employees and partners of CGM TELECOMUNICACIONES on this special anniversary? I just want to thank the effort and dedication of the team of employees and suppliers who work with us, as well as the companies that have put their trust in us in these 30 years that we have all been together.
